Welcome to SuperGeek St Kilda, VIC 3182
6km south-east of Melbourne CBD is the suburb of St Kilda. Named after a “schooner” Lady of St Kilda (which moored at the main beach for much of 1841) by Charles La Trobe and Lieutenant James Ross Lawrence (who was the ships master and an early settler). Many palatial mansions were erected along the hills and waterfronts during the Victorian and Edwardian eras. Since the late 1960’s St Kilda has become known for its bohemianism and was home to many prominent artists and musicians.
St Kilda is home to some popular Melbourne tourist attraction such as Luna Park, the Esplanade Hotel and Fitzroy Street to name a few. It is also home to St Kilda beach, which is one of Melbourne’s most famous beach’s, as well as being home to the Australian Football League (AFL) club, St Kildas Football Club. They are more commonly known as the Saints.
